Curbside pickup at the library has been a lifesaver this year. This girl will sit with her cocoa and read graphic novels for an hour or more. It's a much needed escape when you're missing your friends.

I looked back at my goals for 2020, and one of my main goals was to "slow down." HA! Nailed it.

I love spending the quiet weeks around the holidays planning out what I want the next year to look like. 2021 is already looking strange - I won't be photographing any of my usual big winter weddings, and it's unlikely I'll be taking on indoor sessions in the immediate future. So for now I'm just going to indulge in daydreams of a future She Shed Studio to expand my branding work while I drink hot chocolate and watch the cheesiest of cheesy Christmas movies.

I started offering frames a few years ago when I realized I just really prefer a beautifully framed photo over a canvas. Don't get me wrong - I have a few canvases in my house too, but these frames create such a pretty finished look without losing any detail in the print.

What's your favorite framing style? Mine are Gatsby Silver and Gatsby Gold (the two on the bottom). I have one of each hanging right over my workspace.

I almost turned this session down because I wasn't sure if I could get the photos turned around quickly enough to make the yearbook. In the end, we found a date that worked, made it happen, and I worked into the evening to get the yearbook photo options ready so it could get in on time. But let's be honest - I worked into the evening a lot this fall to keep up with work and kids at home, because #pandemiclife

Six years ago, we tore down our old kitchen and designed a whole new space from scratch. We wanted our kitchen to be a place where we could gather with friends, and I daydreamed that my kids would one day sit at the island eating pancakes in the morning.

Sometimes when the girls are sitting at the island doing crafts or eating breakfast, I flash back to those old daydreams and realize how cool it is to see all those dreams coming to life.

We may not be hosting big gatherings with friends these days, but we're lucky to call this place home.

Her family lives in Sri Lanka. His family lives in Jamaica. Both families Zoomed in to attend the wedding (her family in the middle of the night because of the time difference) - a heartbreaking reality during the pandemic.

This is pretty much what life looks like these days - finishing up some framing and album projects while taking advantage of cozy clothes, slippers, and no makeup (and cleaning my windows after realizing how dirty they looked in this photo). Anyone else living in slippers?

I wrapped up my last planned session for 2020 with a chilly morning engagement session. The cold air next to the river ended up creating a really pretty look. 10 out of 10 - would face the cold again for more photos like this (Melanie and Marko were the real champions here - I had on a full winter coat).
