The Experience
Before the Session
I know how stressful it can be to coordinate photos—there are outfits to choose, a location to select, and so many expectations to live up to, right?
Take a deep breath, because I’m here to help. When you choose your session date, you’ll get immediate access to my styling service. You’ll answer a short questionnaire about who is in the session, the general style you’re looking for and the color schemes you like, and the service will choose photographer-approved outfits for you to compare side-by-side. Here’s an example of four outfits I picked out based on recommendations for a family of four in the gray and blush color scheme (I chose “whimsical” as my vibe):
Along with the styling service, I’ll send you my digital Style Guide Magazine to help you prepare for your session.
The Style Guide will also walk you through ideas for incorporating your finished images into your home as artwork (wall art and other printed keepsakes). If you’re hoping to download your files, throw a few on Facebook and then put them in a drawer somewhere never to be seen again, I’m just not the photographer for you, my dear.
To me, a photographer’s job isn’t done until she’s helped you do something with the photos.
I’ll also have you send me photos of your walls before your session so I know a bit about your style. You’ll receive complimentary wall design ideas after your session.
During the Session
Depending on the age of session participants, I’ll use a mix of prompts and movement to get natural photos. For very young children, I like to focus on play-based photography and movement (little ones aren’t always known for sitting still, so I like to capture them as they are so you can remember their spunky little selves). Bring along a favorite toy or activity, and we’ll focus on the family interacting and playing together.
Newborn lifestyle sessions offer a combination of family photos, snuggly photos with parents and siblings (note that siblings two and younger may not alway cooperate for posed photos with baby and may require a parent to take part), and a few posed newborn photos from the comfort of your own home. Don’t worry about cleaning your house and making everything perfect—I’ll clear any space that I plan to use and get everything prepped while you relax with your new baby.
Lifestyle newborn sessions typically last one hour. I recommend booking your session within ten days of baby’s due date for the most successful session. If baby comes early or late, we can adjust the time as needed.
After the Session
About three weeks after your photo session, you’ll get to see and download your photos in your online gallery, and you’ll get a one day 20% off sale to buy any professional print products that you want for your home or for gifts.
You’ll also get access to my online wall gallery designer to visualize exactly what your photos will look like to scale on your own walls. I can even upload other personal photos for you if you want to put together a wall gallery with a mix of photos.
Maternity Photos
Evening Mini Session (30 Minutes): $350
Mini sessions are great for young families—toddlers and young children don’t often have the patience for much more than half an hour. I usually deliver 30 images in one general location with no outfit changes. This includes a few favorites in black and white.

- One hour on-location outdoor photography session (travel fees may apply beyond outside of 30 miles from East Lansing or Pentwater, Michigan. Pentwater dates are limited).
- All high resolution digital downloads, available through an online gallery (online for at least 30 days).
- Digital Style Guide Magazine with tips to prepare for your session and ideas to help you style your photos in your home.

Per Michigan law, sales are subject to Michigan sales tax. Also note that prices are subject to change until a session is locked in with a contract.

FAQ
Q: Will you travel? Does this cost extra?
I live in East Lansing, Michigan, and I split my summers between East Lansing and Pentwater, Michigan. Sessions typically take place in these two areas (Pentwater beach sessions are based on availability).
Travel fees may apply beyond 100 miles for weddings or 30 miles for sessions, but there are exceptions (no fees for Traverse City or the Leelanau Peninsula while Allie is in those areas; travel barters are available).
Q: Do I pay sales tax on my session?
Per Michigan law, a 6% sales tax will be added to all session fees for Michigan clients. Product credit will not be charged sales tax since sales tax will be applied to the products at the time of purchase.
