As a part of my personal growth as a photographer, I make it a point to follow the work of a number of other photographers with various styles and tastes. One team that I’ve become particularly fond of is that of Sarah Rhoads Photographers—Sarah and Chris Rhoads are a husband a wife team based in Seattle, and their talent is all but impossible to ignore.
This week, Sarah posted a recurring project called The Self Portrait project (see parts one and two). It’s an amazing project—it has inspired me to follow Sarah’s lead and make it a goal to take one self portrait per month in 2011. Thanks for the inspiration, Sarah. I’m looking forward to pushing myself beyond the conventional portrait and telling a more personal story through my photography.

1. This photo is absolutely stunning.
2. I’m no photographer, but I do like to play with a camera, maybe I’ll try this project too!
3. Where did you get that hat!? I love it!!

I’d love to see others participating in the project – let me know if you post something!
The hat was from Bazaar, a boutique here in Chicago. It’s right across the street from the photography center I’m involved with, which can be dangerous for my wallet!
