Hannah: A Retro Tropical Styled Senior Photo Shoot

When my wedding season officially wrapped up at the end of October, I decided to reward myself for a successful season of 27 weddings as a pregnant lady by hopping a plane to fly out to Scottsdale, Arizona for Conference12, a conference focused on Senior Photography.

Beyond the general amazingness and inspiration that comes with being surrounded by 50 other talented photographers in a beautiful location, the conference organizers set up styled shoots for us throughout the weekend. The first was modeled by Hannah and styled by Misti Davis from Pink Fly Photo and Becki from Whippy Cake.

Danielle + Cory: Michigan State University Campus Engagement Photos

It’s always fun to watch MSU’s campus transform across the seasons (especially now that I’m out of college, and I no longer have to trudge a mile across campus in the snow for an 8:00 AM ISS class). I have to admit that I was originally a little nervous about scheduling Danielle and Cory’s engagement session in November—I didn’t know if we’d have any color left, and I imagined us all shivering away as we walked together around campus. But the weather stayed mild for us, and Danielle was amazing at pretending that it was about 30 degrees warmer than it actually was in her sleeveless purple dress (many props to you, Danielle).

Jen + Curtis: A Michigan Backyard Wedding

I love backyard weddings. My sister and brother-in-law were married at our childhood home, and there’s something really amazing about inviting close friends and family to celebrate a wedding at such a sentimental place.

But here’s the thing. Curtis’ family doesn’t just have just any backyard. They have multiple ponds on a gorgeous private property across from the family farm (and it just so happened that I had photographed his dad for a magazine feature about the farm earlier this year). They have a waterfall, a fire pit and lights everywhere. It was stunning.

And thanks to Diana for second shooting in a pinch when our original second photographer had a family emergency. Lansing has such a supportive photography community, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it. This wedding is a great example of how two photographers can capture different perspectives throughout the day. Check out the full gallery to see more.

A Winter Family Session at Lincoln Brick Park

If you’ve followed along with me on Facebook, you’ve probably noticed that Lincoln Brick Park is my new location love. And while it was gorgeous in all of its fall color glory, it has a different kind of magic in the winter. We were able to sneak this session in during the short winter snowfall at the end of November before everything melted away. I have a good feeling that I’ll be back here again for more.
