Jenny+Stephan: New Covenant Christian Church + Grand Ledge Opera House Wedding

I heard a quote recently that really stuck in my head. It was something like, “As a wedding photographer, you’re doing more than taking pictures. Your lenses are the eyes of the couple’s future children. They’ll see their parents’ wedding day from your perspective.”

In the case of Jenny and Stephan’s wedding, I also had the honor of being the stand in eyes for Jenny’s extended family. Many of them live in Cuba and weren’t able to be there in person for the wedding day. This was such a sweet, lighthearted couple with family and friends that were incredibly kind and warm. And I love a wedding party with a great sense of humor (one look at the bridesmaids photos below says it all).

Lauren: A Poolside Styled Senior Session

I originally shared my styled senior session with Hannah back in December, and I intended to follow right up with Lauren’s session, but then Arden made her baby debut a little early.

This was a group shoot during a conference in Arizona. We all had one minute to shoot in each location for a total of about five minutes. It definitely put the pressure on, but I also think it gave me a fun opportunity to think on my toes and watch how other photographers work.

Now pardon me while I research condos in Arizona that I can rent for part of the winter next year 🙂

Kourtnee + Jordan: Old Town Lansing Fall Engagement Photos

Old Town Lansing has become a favorite location for me over the years, both as an urban area with a ton of quick variety for mini sessions and as a place to go with my family. Zelda and I have been going to a music class with Melissa Sigh’s School of Music every Friday in Old Town for almost a year now, and we often find ourselves at various classes at Mother and Earth.

I kept catching lucky breaks with weather in November—this session took us all the way to mid-November, but you’d never know looking at the Jordan and Kourtnee. These two are naturals in front of the camera.

Hannah: A Retro Tropical Styled Senior Photo Shoot

When my wedding season officially wrapped up at the end of October, I decided to reward myself for a successful season of 27 weddings as a pregnant lady by hopping a plane to fly out to Scottsdale, Arizona for Conference12, a conference focused on Senior Photography.

Beyond the general amazingness and inspiration that comes with being surrounded by 50 other talented photographers in a beautiful location, the conference organizers set up styled shoots for us throughout the weekend. The first was modeled by Hannah and styled by Misti Davis from Pink Fly Photo and Becki from Whippy Cake.

Stay tuned for more amazing styled senior photo shoots from the conference, including a bus trip out to the desert and some really fun styling that got my creativity running on high gears.
